Extrait is the most concentrated way to wear a perfume. Every Scales scent is an Extrait de Parfum in a 30 mL bottle, at $49.99. How it wears and projects depends on the scent, your skin and the climate.

Every Scales fragrance is an original blend, made by the house under its own name. Where we mention a well-known fragrance, it is only to describe the direction of a scent, so you can find something that feels familiar. Scales Parfum is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any of the brands mentioned, and their names are trademarks of their respective owners.

Scales is a family house founded by P.L. Scales. Each bottle is filled and checked by the family, and made to order.

Each scent’s page has a wear profile with an estimate of intensity, longevity, season and occasion. These are guides rather than lab results, because skin and climate vary.

That depends on how often you wear it and how much you apply, so there is no fixed answer. When the bottle runs dry, the refill ritual begins.

Keep your bottle. When it is empty, mail it back to the house with your refill card, choosing the same scent or a new one. The family refills it and sends it home. The refill itself is free, for life; at checkout you pay $12.99 return shipping and handling ($7 more to switch scent). Arrange it on the Refills page, where you receive a refill reference for your card.

Secure the cap and seal the bottle in a bag. Wrap it in cushioning, pack it snugly in a sturdy box, and include your refill card with your order or refill number. Perfume contains alcohol, so return bottles travel by ground only: USPS Ground Advantage or UPS Ground. Tell the carrier the parcel holds a returned perfume bottle.

You do. Pack it safely and send it to us with your refill card; we cover the refill.

Yes. Switch-It-Up lets you return your bottle and choose a new scent for $7 plus $12.99 shipping and handling. Choose your new scent in the refill flow.

Choose three 5 mL slim spray atomizers for $45, or five for $65. Every scent is your own choice and each one is different, so you can live with them for a few days before choosing the bottle that stays. Compose a discovery pack.

Each order includes $12.99 ground shipping, and each extra 30 mL bottle adds $5. Discovery packs add nothing beyond the order’s $12.99. Refills and Switch-It-Up carry their own $12.99 return shipping and handling; postage to send your bottle in is yours.

Every order is made to order and ships within 3–5 business days. It then arrives in about 2–5 business days by ground, so about 1–2 weeks in all.

At present, orders travel within the US by ground only, because perfume contains alcohol.

All sales are final. Instead of a conventional return, Switch-It-Up offers a change of scent for $7 plus $12.99 shipping and handling.

Write to scalesparfum@gmail.com within 7 days of arrival, with a photo of the bottle and its packaging. Keep the packaging while the house reviews it, and please do not mail loose broken glass. A bottle that breaks later can be replaced for $7 plus $12.99 shipping and handling.
